Thugs hijack and burn election materials in Bayelsa state
News emerging from Bayelsa states reports that political thugs have hijacked in three wards in Ogbia Constituency in the ongoing state house of assembly elections.
The thugs stormed the wards and carted away election materials before setting them on fire in an incident that has been confirmed by INEC’s Head Voter Education and Publicity in Bayelsa State, Mr Wilfred Ifogah
According to Ifogah, the commission has received a report on the hijacking and they will release a statement on it.
“We received a report that materials meant for the State Assembly election in about two or three wards in Ogbia Constituency 2 were hijacked and burnt, maybe later we will get a statement on it.”
Voters in Bayelsa state are set to elect members of the state legislature ahead of the November 2023 governorship election in the state.
