Fernandes ' the obvious replacement for a reason'

Bruno Fernandes is the clear frontrunner to be Manchester United's next captain - and he's the right one, argues Jay Motty on BBC Radio Manchester's The Devils' Advocate podcast this week.

"Bruno plays almost every minute of every game and has basically been the captain of a side that has finished third and won a trophy," said The Stretty Paddock's Motty.

"I think his leadership qualities are underrated. The theatrics are a bit annoying, but he is one of those players the manager talks to on the touchline and he will play in any position you ask him to.

"He is vocal and moans a bit, but I do not mind someone being in the referee's ear. As well, he talks to his team-mates in a positive way.

"He's the player they look up to and listen to. In the last five minutes, he is still busting a guy. He's the obvious replacement for a reason.

"Besides, if you don't give it to him, it's like you are taking it off him. It's a tap-in choice."
