2019 FIBA World Cup: D’Tigers Bow To Argentina In 2nd Group B Game
Nigeria’s D’Tigers suffered their second defeat at the 2019 FIBA Men’s World Cup in China going down to a 94-81 defeat to Argentina at the Wuhan Sports Centre on Monday morning (Nigerian time),
Head coach of the side, Alex Nwora, named Benjamin Uzoh, Josh Okogie, Jordan Nwora, Al-Farouq Aminu and Ike Diogu in an unchanged line-up from the previous game squad that lost to Russia.
D’Tigers were down 28-17 at the end of the first quarter as they struggled to match the Argentines.
The game was tied 43-43 at half-time with Okogie, making a vital contribution with 10 points to his name.
The West Africans however slumbered in the third quarter as they trailed 72-61.
With less than six minutes to the conclusion of the game, Nigeria stayed behind 78-68.
D’Tigers then cut the deficit to eight with three minutes left.
But no relinquishing their lead as Argentina held on to see off Nigeria 94-81.
Alex Nwora’s team will face Korea in their last Group B match on Wednesday, September 3, at the Wuhan Sports Centre.
