 What threat do Marseille pose?

Brighton v Marseille (Thu, 20:00 GMT)

French football journalist and Brighton fan George Boxall has been previewing Thursday's Europa League match against French giants Marseille on the latest episode of BBC Radio Sussex's Albion Unlimited podcast.

The Seagulls are already qualified but know a win would see them top their group and avoid a play-off round against a team dropping down from the Champions League.

Marseille sit sixth in Ligue 1 after an inconsistent start to the season but have won their last four matches - including against Ajax to ensure their Europa League progression.

"There is mentally something there [for Marseille]. Against Lorient [a 4-2 win] for example they were only really on the front foot for 40 minutes.

"As an Albion fan, I was pretty scared about seeing them flying forward and going 4-1 up but really they are a team who take their foot off the gas when they think they're in front. Obviously we saw that at the Velodrome [in the first game against Brighton].

"Brighton don't want an extra tie against Champions League opposition. I was talking to a Marseille fan recently who was saying if they come up against a Champions League team in the play-off, they will get knocked out."
