Super Eagles of Nigeria in Pot 1 in the draw for 2022 World Cup qualifiers

Super Eagles of Nigeria are in Pot 1 for the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers ahead of the main draws on Tuesday, January 21, 2020, in Cairo, Egypt.
The Super Eagles make Pot 1 as a result of their position on the FIFA Ranking where they are 31st position and third in Africa.
It is the latest FIFA Ranking released in December 2019 that was used to determine the pots for the draw.
Being in Pot 1 means that the Super Eagles will avoid other African heavyweights as Senegal, Tunisia, Algeria, Morocco and bitter rivals, Ghana and Cameroon.
Since their FIFA World Cup debut in 1994, the Super Eagles of Nigeria have qualified for six of the last seven FIFA World Cups, missing only the 2006 edition and have reached the Round-of-16 three times.
