Baxter Disappointed With Bafana Draw Vs Super Eagles

Baxter Disappointed With Bafana Draw Vs Super EaglesSouth Africa coach, Stuart Baxter, is disappointed at his side’s 1-1 draw with the Super Eagles of Nigeria, but insists his team will fight to clinch the final qualification ticket when they face Libya in Sfax Tunisia in March 2019,
Buhle Mkhwanazi bundled in Samuel Kalu’s cross for an own goal in the ninth minute of the game, but an easy tap in from Lebo Mothiba in the 26th minute earned the hosts a share of the spoils from the match day 5 encounter.
Bafana Bafana, remain second in Group E following the draw with nine points from five matches. And to qualify for AFCON 2019, they must avoid defeat to Libya who are in third place with seven-points.
“I am disappointed and at the same time proud a little bit that we took four points off the Super Eagles,” Baxter said in his post match interview.

“The only goal we conceded so far was an own goal. I’m disappointed that we were not brave enough. I said it at half time that we gave them lots of problems when we played through the middle with our movements.”
Baxter added: “We should have been braver especially in the second half, but it seems we were instead nervous. We were playing more long balls instead of running at them, but the fight goes on against Libya.

“We couldn’t get into the game like I wanted. I wanted the wingers to get on one on one with their defenders, but it was not to be because of the blocked spaces.”
Nigeria will host Seychelles in their final Group E game in March while Libya who play their home games away from Tripoli will host South Africa.
