Virgil van Dijk Signs New Deal At Liverpool

The Dutchman has signed a new contract and is set to stay at Anfield until 2025

The news we have all been waiting for: Virgil van Dijk has committed his future to The Reds by today signing a new contract until June 2025.

The Dutchman has pledged his future on Merseyside to extend his stay beyond his previous three and a half years. The former Southampton man joined Liverpool in January 2018 for a record fee (at the time) for a defender and has proved his worth in aiding the club to win the Champions League, Super Cup, FIFA World Club Cup and of course, the Premier League.

van Dijk told Liverpoolfc.com how he felt: “Amazing. It is something to be very proud of, that I am very proud of, that my wife and my kids are very proud of and obviously my agency."

The colossal centre-back has been integral to Liverpool's growing success and his importance to the team can never be underestimated. Van Dijk is close to a return to action after the horrific injury he suffered last season against Everton in October. His return now will be even more special knowing that he will be a Red for many years to come.
