Former Arbitrator at the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) Raymond Hack has said Senegal could win their case because the referee’s decision is final:
“The rules are very simple, the referee is the only person in charge of the game on the field and when he blows the whistle, that’s the end of the game, anything that happened before doesn’t come into the final decision.
“The referee is the only person who can bring the game to an end. He brought the game to an end at the end of extra time and the winner was Senegal. So Senegal remain champions. “
