Al-Sadd manager Xavi turns down Barcelona offer

Al-Sadd manager Xavi Hernandez has turned down the chance to be Barcelona manager in January but he plans to rejoin his former team in June at the start of the new season.

The former Barcelona star met with Oscar Grau and Eric Abidal in Doha Qatar where they discuss the possibility of taking charge of the first team and stood his ground that he would prefer to take up the opportunity at the commencement of a new season.

The decision means Ernesto Valverde will be in charge of the Monday training section since no suitor is found yet to replace him at the Camp dugout.

Xavi was appointed as Al Sadd's coach back in 2019 and has recently led his team to the final of the Qatar Cup.
