Jerome Boateng is not Arsenal's first-choice centre-back this month, but the Gunners may opt for him as a cheap option.

It is understood the club would rather sign RB Leipzig defender Dayot Upamecano.

But according to the Evening Standard, Arsenal fear they may be priced out of a move for the highly-rated 21-year-old, so they have lined up Boateng instead.
